COBBLER’S COTTAGE

PURPOSE OF THE PROPERTY
Over the years, our family has gathered together for vacations in all kinds of weather in all kinds of places. We’ve learned a lot about togetherness and friendship and what makes both fun instead of work when you want to get away from work of any kind.
These spaces were designed to allow for togetherness as well as the ability to get away from relatives or friends when you just need solitude. Everyone has relatives they love to hate. Here you can get away enough to still love them at the end of the vacation.
I figure that everyone has a basic idea of the essentials for a great vacation house. Most people start that list with either hot coffee or tea, a good shower or a hot bath, comfortable beds and a great location. That list is sufficient for good weather when you’ll be leaving the property everyday to explore.
Having spent enough family vacations in bad weather (and even a hurricane, once) these houses were planned to make you comfortable in less than optimal conditions. You’ll find lots of puzzles, scrabble, monopoly, books for children as well as adults, cloth for forts and even tutus for dress-up. One group commented that they had a week of solid rain and had a wonderful time. That is what I consider a rave review.
Everything you need to satisfy your gourmet tendencies including cookbooks or cooking magazines can be found in the kitchens. Farmer’s markets are almost everyday. There is a lot of great take-out around and a microwave and outdoor grill with each house. You can cook or not cook.
Two televisions in Twin Oaks and one in the Cottage as well as DVD players in each along with separate internet access for each house make life a little more livable if either the weather or the other occupants prove disagreeable. So, you can connect or not connect.
PROXIMITY OF THE HOUSES
In the picture above, Twin Oaks is to the left and the roofline of the Cobbler’s Cottage on the right (see white arrow). Their close proximity makes them perfect for family gatherings where there is either overflow or the need for different kinds of spaces for small or large families, younger families or teenagers. While there is a good amount of visual privacy between the houses, they are not completely isolated from each other.
PRIVACY
You are on a Town road on this property so there is traffic. While you’re set back from the road in both houses, you will hear traffic swishing from time to time but you can also go for periods during the days when no one comes by for ten minutes or more.
Because of their placement on the land, there is a good amount of visual privacy between the 2 houses. There is a large evergreen shrub that keeps people enjoying the front porch of either the Cottage or Twin Oaks from having to view each other. The half curtain in the kitchen of the Cottage allows light but not much awareness of what is going on in the other house.
There are separate land lines and internet connections.
Many people have rented these houses separately from each other and have spent their vacations with no more than a passing glance at each other. Others have formed lasting friendships with the people occupying the other house. Family gatherings have had great reviews. I hope you will find it to your liking.
